FAQ – Sustainable Wood Crafts

Frequently Asked Questions

LAMS Woodcrafts works exclusively with reclaimed wood, transforming logs, branches, and natural fragments into unique handcrafted lighting pieces. On this page, we've compiled answers to frequently asked questions about our processes, materials, shipping, customization, and care of the pieces.

1. What types of pieces does LAMS Woodcrafts produce?

LAMS Woodcrafts creates sustainable, handcrafted pieces in Portugal, using reclaimed wood, logs, branches, and roots responsibly collected from nature, beaches, or rivers.
The collections include wooden lamps, paper raffia lampshades, candle holders, and other unique decorative pieces.
Each piece is unique, highlighting the natural forms of the wood and combining organic materials with welcoming lighting, always focusing on authenticity and respect for nature.

2. I saw a piece in your designs and I want something similar. Is that possible?

Our pieces are unique and unrepeatable. However, if you've seen something similar in a photograph or design, we can create a piece inspired by that reference, respecting proportions and style, but with its own identity.
Custom projects typically require 3 to 5 weeks of production, depending on complexity and available wood.

We send follow-up photos throughout the process to ensure the final result exactly meets your expectations.

3. What is the average shipping time?

For items in stock, after payment confirmation, the average processing time is up to 3 business days.
Delivery times begin after shipment and vary depending on the destination:

Mainland Portugal: 24–72h
European Union: 3–6 working days

4. Where does the wood they use come from?

The wood used by LAMS is reclaimed wood , sourced from fallen trees, dry branches, and driftwood found in rivers or on beaches.
This process promotes sustainability, avoids unnecessary waste, and gives new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded, reducing the ecological footprint and enhancing the authentic character of each piece.

5. How are the parts packaged to prevent damage?

Each piece is carefully protected to ensure its integrity during transport.
We seek safe and sustainable solutions while maintaining handcrafted aesthetics.

6. What precautions should I take to keep the garment looking beautiful?

Clean only with a soft, slightly damp cloth; never use detergents or chemicals.
We recommend rehydrating the wood every 6 months with natural oil or beeswax (available upon request).

Avoid direct exposure to heat or intense sunlight to prevent cracking and discoloration.
For paper raffia lampshades, use only a soft duster, without liquids and keep away from heat sources.

7. Do the colors in the photos exactly match the product I will receive?

Our photographs are captured and edited with rigor to faithfully reflect each piece.
Nevertheless, wood is a living and unique material, and can exhibit natural variations in tone, grain, or texture.
Each screen also reproduces colors in a slightly different way.
These nuances are part of the authenticity and handcrafted character of LAMS pieces.

8. What if the part arrives damaged or defective?

If damage occurs during shipping, photograph the packaging and the item within 48 hours of receipt and send the photos to us by email.
We offer free replacement or a full refund, including return shipping.
We want each customer to receive their piece exactly as it was created.

9. May I visit your studio?

Yes. The LAMS Woodcrafts workshop in Carnaxide (Oeiras) receives visits from our clients by appointment.
During your visit you will be able to learn about the artisanal process, choose woods, talk to us and follow personalized projects in development.

10. How is the wood treated from harvesting to the final piece?

Each reclaimed log is cleaned, naturally dried, and fumigated in a controlled environment to eliminate insects.
It is then trimmed, shaped, sanded and finished manually with vegetable oils and/or beeswax, preserving natural veins, textures and markings.
Paper raffia lampshades are created on hand-molded and welded wire frames, interwoven strand by strand for a unique light pattern.

11. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Multibanco, MB Way, Visa, Mastercard and direct bank transfer.
All payments are processed with 3-D Secure for complete security.
We issue an electronic invoice after payment confirmation.

12. Is it possible to order custom-made lampshades (shape, cover and color)?

Yes. We produce custom lampshades with handcrafted welded wire frames, in beige or black, as well as special shapes upon request.
You can define the dimensions, type of bushing, and color of the paper raffia.
We always provide a quote and estimated timeframe before starting production, as we generally don't keep inventory and need to move the process forward from the beginning.

13. What makes LAMS Woodcrafts different from other brands?

We exclusively use reclaimed wood or paper raffia for our lampshades, and we handcraft each piece in Portugal.
We don't mass-produce: each object is born from the natural form of the wood and its dialogue with its character.
We combine organic design, simplicity, and natural materials to create pieces with history, authenticity, and purpose.

14. Can I request additional photos or videos of the item before purchasing?

Yes. We can send detailed photos, videos, and full-scale images so you can make a decision with complete confidence.
Simply contact us through the usual channels.

15. Is each piece truly unique?

Yes. Each LAMS piece is unique, thanks to the natural characteristics of reclaimed wood.
The item shown in the photograph is exactly the one you will receive.

16. How are LAMS Woodcrafts lamps made?

The process is handcrafted from start to finish.
The wood is worked respecting its organic form, then sanded, stabilized, and finished manually.
The paper raffia lampshades are also handmade, creating harmonious and welcoming compositions.

17. How to choose the ideal size for a handcrafted lamp?

We recommend measuring the location where you want to place it and assessing the scale of the space.
For side tables and console tables, medium sizes work well; for coffee tables, we suggest more discreet pieces. Each of our products has a "Dimensions and Weight" section with a schematic drawing showing approximate measurements and weight.

If that's not enough and you'd like help, send us a photo of the space and we'll suggest the ideal scale.
