Como criar uma iluminação acolhedora com peças artesanais de madeira

How to create cozy lighting with handcrafted wooden pieces.

Lighting with intention: when light is also decoration

Light has a rare ability: it changes the way we experience a space.
A room can look the same, but the right light transforms it, warms it, softens it, makes it more human. And when that light interacts with natural wood, the space gains depth, texture, and presence.

At LAMS Woodcrafts we often talk about light with identity .
Because it's not just light: it's the way it allows itself to be enveloped by materials, how it embraces surfaces, how it reinforces the beauty of what already exists.

If you're looking to create a truly welcoming atmosphere, here are some simple, almost intuitive ideas.

Warm light is the first gesture of coziness.

The warm tone, around 2700K, is reminiscent of a flame, burning wood, or a sunset. It's not a technical choice. It's emotional. It's the light that invites you to stay.

Natural materials soften the light.

Paper raffia lampshades filter light organically. Raffia isn't opaque, but it also doesn't allow light to pass through the thread itself. The lighting occurs mainly in the spaces between the strands , creating soft shadows and a natural visual effect.
Depending on the chosen pattern, the light can be more open or more subdued.

Reclaimed wood amplifies this effect. It doesn't reflect aggressively. It receives the light, shapes it, and returns it gently.

Intensity isn't everything. Intention is much more important.

Soft, focused lighting is worth more than an entire illuminated ceiling.
LAMS Woodcrafts fixtures are designed as a balance between lighting and decoration . When used with warm-toned vintage LED bulbs, typically between 150 and 700 lumens , they create cozy and inviting environments, focused more on comfort than intense technical lighting.

And is the light sufficient for reading?

It's a frequent—and legitimate—question.
It all depends on the intended function and the lampshade's design.

A raffia lampshade with a tighter weave creates a more diffused and atmospheric light, ideal for ambient lighting, but may not be the most suitable for prolonged reading. In that case, you can opt for a more open weave , LED bulbs with higher light intensity , or supplement it with a dedicated reading light.

Lighting a house isn't about turning everything on. It's about creating a cohesive look.

Multiple light sources create depth.

A lamp on the side table, another on a sideboard, another in a more discreet corner. Light guides the eye, creates layers, and transforms the space throughout the day.

Wood brings texture to the light.

It doesn't illuminate by itself, but receives, shapes, and returns.
Grains, irregularities, and marks of time soften the light and add character. Each piece reacts uniquely because each fragment of wood has already lived a story.

A cozy home doesn't require major changes.
It depends on small choices, made with intention. And when lighting is constructed with materials that have already lived a life before reaching you, the result is not just beautiful—it's meaningful.

At LAMS Woodcrafts we exclusively use reclaimed wood , fragments collected from nature, the sea or forests, transforming them into lighting and decorative pieces with a new life.

For this reason, we do not recommend the use of incandescent bulbs , due to the heat they generate, the risks to wood and paper raffia, and the associated energy waste. The light we create seeks to be consistent with nature, in material, function, and intention.
