CÔA is born from the encounter between two materials of distinct nature. The light-coloured sycamore rests on a shale base, which gives it balance and character. The slight inflection of the trunk and the knots that preserve the memory of its growth reveal a discreet yet singular presence.

In the harmony between wood and stone, CÔA finds its identity.

Process

Each LAMS Woodcrafts combined piece brings together the solidity of wood, supported by stone, and the lightness of raffia – three distinct materials, handcrafted with the same respect and dedication. The base is made of schist stone from the Côa region. The wood from the trunk is shaped by time and artisanally transformed; it is cleaned, sanded, treated against insects and fungi, and pore-filled before receiving a smooth finish with natural beeswax, preserving the marks, cracks, and imperfections that tell its story. The lampshade, in turn, is born from a manually shaped and welded wire frame, to which paper raffia is intertwined, fiber by fiber – forming a unique design of shadow and light. This process combines technique, patience, and sensitivity, resulting in pieces that do not hide the hand of their maker. We value the natural rhythm of materials and celebrate their authenticity – because we believe that true beauty lies in imperfection. We produce with passion, in a handmade and sustainable way, creating objects that go beyond functionality – they are living expressions of nature transformed with dedication and art.
